Special Issues and Guest Editors Policy

A special issue is a themed collection of articles published in IJTACI under the responsibility of the Editor-in-Chief. Special issues follow the same standards as regular issues.

Approval and scope

Every special issue is proposed to the Editor-in-Chief, who approves it only if the topic falls within the journal's Aims & Scope. The call for papers states the topic, the deadline, the guest editors and the review process, and states that review standards are unchanged and that publication is not guaranteed.

Guest editors

Guest editors are appointed by the Editor-in-Chief on the basis of their expertise and publication record. Their names, affiliations, countries and ORCID iDs are published on the special-issue page. They are overseen by the Editor-in-Chief and the editorial board, and they have no authority to accept a manuscript on their own. Guest editors declare any conflict of interest.

Peer review

Special-issue papers are peer reviewed under the Peer Review Policy: single-blind, by at least two independent reviewers, with the final decision taken by the Editor-in-Chief. Reviewers are not chosen by the authors.

Papers by guest editors and their collaborators

A paper authored by a guest editor, or by a close collaborator or colleague of a guest editor, is handled by an independent editor appointed by the Editor-in-Chief. The author has no access to the review file or to reviewer identities.

Limits

Papers invited by, or submitted by, guest editors make up no more than 25% of the papers in an issue. The journal does not accept special-issue papers that fail the normal similarity, ethics and quality checks.

Labelling and fees

Special-issue articles are clearly labelled as part of the special issue and carry the same licence (CC BY 4.0), dates and identifiers as other articles. The same fee policy applies as for regular submissions (see Article Processing Charges). Guest editors receive no payment from authors.
